The book in Italy

Katie on August 5th, 2009

It was wonderful to see, during a recent sojourn in Rome, that the Italian edition of A Romance on Three Legs, published by Einaudi in the spring, was displayed face out at a bookstore in the center of Rome.

As if that weren’t gratification enough, it turned out that Einaudi’s own little shop in Rome is a few hundred meters from the apartment on Via Giulia, the historic street where said sojourn took place.

And inside the little Einaudi outpost, the book is also prominently displayed. I met Maurizio, the man tending the store, who was only too happy to shake my hand and ask me to sign a copy of the book. Still better, he told me that someone had actually come into the store to request the book!

  1. Do you have any idea on how I can reach Katie Hafner by e-mail? In December I made a pilgrimage to see the intriguing site in Potsdam outside Berlin that she wrote about in The House at the Bridge. The house was newly hidden by scaffolding and my inquiries ’round the neighborhood re: what was happening or who was doing it produced nothing. I’m dying to find out the disposition of the house. Thansk if you can offer me any help getting a message to Katie Hafner, who might know more. Thanks very much.

  2. I’ve read the book in italian and I enjoyed it a lot.
Too bad there were some major translation mistakes like Glenn’s cousin gender (she was a woman, not a man) and others…anyway congrats to the author :)
